The Cajón del Maipo is a valley that enters the Andes Mountains with several small towns, being the main San José del Maipo, a small town full of history that was founded in 1972 and is considered National patrimony.
The Maipo river gives life to the region and on its banks many ecotourism activities take place, and it also irrigates the vineyards of Cabernet Sauvignon typical of the region.
We snake into the cajón, admiring beautiful landscapes and we renew ourselves with the pure air of the mountain. Soon we began to climb its hills, now the banks of the Yeso river towards the Yeso waterfall.
Salto el Yeso, is a waterfall on the el Yeso River within the mountain ranges in a region of rare beauty, where you can also do picnics and ecological ice skating.
The hot springs of Colina, with its thermal waters heated by the nearby San José Volcano, is an incredible place to relax in one of its 9 natural and outdoor pools, embedded in the slopes of the mountain range. The temperature of the water varies in each pool, from 25ºC and can reach up to 60º C.
Whoever says that this milky thermal water has medicinal properties, because it contains limestone, mineral salts and volcanic ash. But just soak in the hot springs and enjoy the warmth of the waters, the summer breeze, the silence and the magnificent view of the Cordillera, an ideal place to relax and enjoy this natural beauty.
During the trip, we will see the shelter Las Cascaras former military shelter and later occupied by the miners, now a ghost town, the San José Volcano, La Mesa Glacier with more than 450 thousand years and on the way back, we will pass by the tunnel of the Tinoco, a mixture of history and urban legend.
